The LEILA Foundation

Letting Every Infant Live Again

Who We Are

The LEILA Foundation exists because of a beautiful baby girl named Leila who survived the unthinkable and is on this earth for a purpose much larger than her.

Founded in 2010,  LEILA  stands for “Letting Every Infant Live Again,” which is the primary purpose of the organization.

Our inspiration came from our daughter, Leila Julianna, who at three days of age suffered from a cardiac arrest in our home. We performed infant CPR until paramedics arrived, but her heart was not restarted until well into her hospital stay.   Leila received Therapeutic Hypothermia, a cutting-edge brain cooling treatment intended to reduce the affects of brain damage after prolonged oxygen loss.  After a week on life support, Leila was considered brain dead. But through the power of prayer and amazing medical science, Leila pulled through and is happy & healthy today.

The goal of The LEILA Foundation is to raise awareness & education of infant and pediatric bystander CPR, as well as informing the public about Therapeutic Hypothermia (infant brain cooling) treatment options.  Understanding the urgent need for these life-saving medical techniques, we will strive to provide CPR training to every new parent across America and brain cooling treatment availability at every hospital across America.

Our Mission
Our mission is to provide community awareness, education, resources and programs to promote infant and pediatric bystander CPR.  Our main focus is to create programs and provide resources for readily accessible, affordable, convenient CPR training to every new parent across America.  It is our hope that all first time parents will have the ability, tools and knowledge to save their child or another’s if ever necessary.

Our secondary mission is to inform and educate the public on Therapeutic Hypothermia (infant brain cooling) treatment options, and support the expanded use and research of this treatment in hospitals across America.
